Since the beginning of human civilization, people have aspired toward spiritual fulfillment. This yearning for supreme expansion eventually led to the techniques of Tantra. They were originally systematized by Sadashiva, a great yogi who lived in the Himalayan Mountains, 7000 years ago. He also taught the system of marriage, medicine, music, dance and science. From the beginning, the practical philosophy of Tantra was not limited only to spiritual practices, but pervaded all fields of life. The aim of Tantra Yoga is to expand awareness and create unity with a Divine consciousness. It is a holistic approach promoting a centeredness that helps us to free our consciousness from limitations and continue evolving. Through the practice of Tantra Yoga, we learn to create peace and harmony within ourselves.

Tantra Healing Yoga at Fivelements, is a personalized approach based on the Ananda Marga Tantra yoga. These sessions may include a brief sharing, followed by sanskrit (the universal language of vibration) therapy through singing mantras or prabhatsamgiit, kirtan with spiritual movement and sadhana meditation, kaoshiki and tandava spiritual dance therapy, tantra flow yoga, classic ananda marga yoga and close with savasana, relaxation. Guests will deepen their practice of yoga and learn more about appreciating life and its simple graces.

A kind soul and full of heart, Made is a true example of how the practice of yoga can be a catalyst for physical, mental and emotional healing. Over his 12-year yoga journey, Made discovered a meaningful path full of love, illumination, faith and compassion. His sense of purpose and connection with others grew deeper while improving his lifestyle and curing himself of a life-threatening asthma condition. Made’s transformation through yoga continues to gift him the experience of pure joy and self-love. With a dedication to sharing the practice of yoga with others, Made’s humble commitment encourages an experience of self-introspection and an openness to share the simple path of Love.

When I began learning yoga, my life began to change...with more clarity. God began to smile in front of me, open his hands and embrace me. I felt my soul absorbed into the sea of love...cleaned and purified...and I knew I wanted to share this experience with others.

    Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is part of a larger concept of Yoga that can be called Taoist Yoga. In Taoism, all things can be described by their mutually complementary Yin and Yang aspects. Yin Yoga recognizes the difference between the Yin and Yang tissues of our body. Most forms of Yoga practiced today are Yang, emphasizing muscular movement and contraction. Yin Yoga, by contrast, targets the opening and releasing of the more fibrous joints, ligaments and connective tissues of the hips, thighs, pelvis and lower spine. Yin and Yang tissues do not respond to training in the same way, and one’s yoga practice becomes more effective when the difference is understood. Yin postures are held passively and relatively longer, thus it is known as a ‘quiet practice’ and as a great aid for learning to sit in meditation as it draws our attention toward our innermost landscape of a yoga practice. It is a gentle yet energizing system, stimulating not only the physical body but also on an energetic level what are known as the meridians as well.

Sequences in a Yin Practice are often likened to doing an acupuncture session on yourself, thus it has both preventive and restorative qualities. They are geared toward stimulating certain energy channels, such as the Kidney Meridian, the Liver Meridian or the Stomach Meridian, which ultimately support the organs, immune system and emotional wellbeing. The surrender and stillness in Yin Yoga also enhance our ability to feel deeply attentive to our bodies, diminishing our stress levels and allowing our system to discharge excess tensions built up through unaware living as well as past traumas that are locked inside us. This unhurried attitude brings us into mindfulness – calming, balancing, and enhancing the overall quality of Chi. Healthy Chi (also known as Prana in the Indian system) is both strong and fluid, nourishing and balancing the functions of all organs and systems simultaneously.

    Yin & Yang Yoga

Yin & Yang Yoga explores polarity in our body by activating Yin and Yang energies, learning stillness in movement and the flow in stillness. This Yin to Yang sequence deepens our yoga experience by carrying over our ability to surrender in Yin into our dynamic (Yang/Flow) practice. Marrying meditation and asanas (postures) into a very deep practice, this approach challenges us to rethink what asana is about, challenging us to pure presence of awareness both in stillness and in movement. It also gives us a new edge to work with our yoga practice: deeper into where we are, not out to where we think we should be.
